A Letter from the Midwest String Rentals President
Dear String Players, Teachers and Parents:
Greetings from the new home of Midwest String Rentals in the Stradivari Music & Arts Center, 30 East Adams Street. After less than two years at our 220 South State address, the building was sold and all tenants were obligated to relocate. Happily, we have turned inconvenience into opportunity: In establishing our new offices on the 12th floor of 30 East Adams we have also spearheaded the creation of a new performing arts nexus in Chicago, the Stradivari Music & Arts Center.
We are excited about the arts community forming around us on the 12th floor. The Stradivari Music & Arts Center is the new home of some of Chicago's
most dynamic performing groups and music education organizations, including Fulcrum Point New Music Project, Baroque Band, the International Music
Foundation, and the soon-to-be-launched Stradivari String Academy. The Stradivari Music & Art Center will also house a state-of-the-art performance
and recording facility slated to open in the Fall of 2009.
The new Darnton & Hersh Fine Violins/Midwest String Rentals workshop and gallery overlook Symphony Center at the corner of Adams and Wabash. We are conveniently located close to major cultural attractions of Chicago, public transportation, and the Adams-Wabash parking garage. Our facilities are larger and more up-to-date than the old workshop and gallery, and with beautiful views of Lake Michigan, the Art Institute, and Symphony Center, the new space shows off Chicago at its best!
The original Midwest String Rentals mission, to offer the highest quality string instruments for rent in the Chicago area at affordable prices, continues. There is a lot that sets MSR apart from other string instrument rental companies:
- We offer consistently high quality violins, violas and cellos. Even though they cost the company more, we buy only the highest quality instruments. We will not compromise when it comes to delivering quality and functionality to our customers!
- Our full time staff of professional violin-makers sets up and maintains our instruments in-house to the highest standards, so our instruments really work and look great!
- The sales staff is made up of professional string players and teachers. Drawing on the expertise of our sales staff and repair staff, we can intelligently answer virtually any question a string player (or parent of a budding string player) might have.
- Our rental rates are affordable and we offer a liberal equity-building program against future purchases.
- We offer delivery service to Chicago suburbs.
- We maintain an extensive teacher referral network all over the Chicago area.
